Foundation Staking
Wooden hubs, with tacks, are set marking the location of the proposed foundation. With a foundation staking, the foundation will be laid out square and in the designed location.
A foundation staking provides protection from building a foundation in a setback or easement. A map showing location of foundation as staked is provided.
Quite often a foundation survey is performed once the foundation has been poured.
Some municipalities require height surveys to verify that the peak of the roof of the new house does not exceed a certain height. It is best to gather ground elevations while performing the foundation staking and then check the elevation (compared to plans) of the foundation while preforming the foundation survey to give the builder the maximum amount of time for corrections, if necessary.
